Car Park Safety

13th Mar 2024

Parents earlier in the year we changed the car parking arrangements to ensure parents could park closer to the footpath to allow easier access at collection times.  Staff now park under the trees at the far side of the car park.  This allows parents to park at the path side so the need for children to cross the car park is reduced.  It is extremely busy at home time when all children are leaving particularly at 3pm.  In order to maintain the safety of the children at this time we would like to remind you of a few rules and would appreciate if you could share this information with other people who might collect your child from school.

  • Please ensure you park your car without over hanging the pavement to allow for people to walk freely up and down the pathway.
  • Please come to the path to collect your child from their teacher and supervise them returning to the car.
  • Please Do Not stand in the car park area to ask your child to come to you as the children should stay on the path until crossing safely with an adult if they are parked on the far side of the car park.
  • Please drive slowly in the car park and be aware of others when driving particularly if you are reversing.
  • Once collected please ensure you take your child/ren to the car together and do not allow children to cross the car park by themselves.  If you are waiting for other siblings in other classes please ensure your child stays with you and is not playing unsupervised around the cars as others may move or reverse without seeing them.
  • Please take care and find a safe place to cross as it can be difficult to see people coming out from between parked cars.

This is to ensure the safety of all in the car park at home time and we appreciate your support in this matter.  It is not a big car park and easily congested, however, if those collecting the children come to the path and ensure their children walk to the car with their supervision (even if parking on the side of the path) this should ensure it is safe for everyone.
